Yun-Ho Baek Cosplay Contact Lenses
Orange-red spikes. One tall peak over the forehead. A black high neck under a long black coat. The wig takes an hour, the coat takes two fittings, then you put the eyes in. I'll be honest, I was nervous. Honey amber depends on how the centre is built.
A Core That Behaves Like A Flame
This lens sits on a warm honey amber base with a glowing golden orange core in the middle and a deeper caramel ring closing the outside. The core is the whole angle. It takes in the light around it and hands it back as a slow glow, the way a small flame brightens before it steadies. The gold does not sit on top of the honey. It sits inside it. Pigment goes down in thin layers rather than one solid block, so the centre reads as heat and the base as honey. The caramel ring gives the glow somewhere to end.
Fibre Depth, Clear Centre, Soft Pupil
Step close and there is fibre: fine strands running outward from the pupil, tight at the middle and opening toward the rim, so the iris has depth to travel through. The centre stays open and clear, letting your own colour come through around the pupil and making the step into the golden core gradual. A clear centre is what makes a glow feel lit from behind. The pupil edge is soft too, so a level stare keeps its shape. At the outside the caramel ring feathers out rather than cutting a line. Both lenses come off one pattern, so the core sits level, and I have stopped checking for a warmer eye.
Long Wear, Little Reminder
First insert is quiet. No catch at the lid, no dryness at the corners by hour two. I wore mine through wig styling with hairspray in the air, a coat fitting, three hours on a con floor and a dinner where I forgot them. Around hour six I blinked and noticed them, which is the right amount of noticing. New to lenses? Practise the insert the night before and give the edge a few blinks to settle before you judge the fit.
Under Flash And On The Floor
Phone flash at two metres: the golden core lights up and the honey base keeps its warmth. That is the core doing its job, holding the bright end of the amber. My photographer zoomed in and asked what I had done in the edit. Nothing. In even hall lighting the caramel ring holds the outer shape, so the eye still has a boundary.
The review we hear most
"I have built a lot of sharp-edged characters and amber is the shade I test first. This one keeps the gold in the centre and the deeper ring at the edge, so the eye still has a shape in a close-up. A friend leaned in at the con and asked whether the left and right matched. They did. I only thought about them when I took them out."

Why CCUS Eyewear
CCUS Eyewear builds cosplay contact lenses around the iris: layered colour, soft edges, and pairs matched to each other. We describe a colour the way it behaves on the eye, core and rim and falloff, so you can picture what lands on you before it arrives. If your amber reads warmer or cooler than you imagined, tell us.
Clean, dry hands, case when they're out, and follow the care guidance that comes with your pair.
